Financial Support Campaign

This form will allow you to share your views on the CoARA financial support campaign. It is only open to CoARA members, only one response should be submitted by member organisation.

This survey follows the presentation made during the CoARA General Assembly held on Decembre 9, 2024.

Potential implications:

Members’ financial support will enable to maintain and enhance the unprecedented momentum around CoARA as well as ensure its successful implementation and community ownership. More specifically, we should:

• Reinforce community ownership: Our strength also lies in our global, community-driven approach. Members’ financial support will demonstrate collective commitment, further solidifying CoARA as a truly community-owned initiative.
• Support a growing membership: The increased scale of our community demands enhanced support from the Secretariat to maintain and expand CoARA activities.
• Amplify in-kind efforts: CoARA members are already mobilising internal resources and in-kind contributions to enable the Coalition’s objectives, but additional financial resources will ensure these efforts achieve their maximum potential.

Potential implications:
Even if sponsors will not gain additional rights in their participation in CoARA, sponsorship always brings influence. The sponsorship campaign aims to reflect community ownership of CoARA, a community of those who have the biggest impact on carrying out a truly systemic change in research assessment. Please note that proprietary players’ involvement is against CoARA’s foundational principles.

Potential implications:
As enshrined in the Agreement, CoARA takes an inclusive approach in which signatories of the Agreements and members of the coalition make collective and concerted efforts towards the systemic reform following the 10 commitments of the Agreement. The risks of granting additional rights to voluntary sponsors is that it would create two-tier membership system which would threaten the inclusiveness of CoARA.
