Upon signing the Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment (ARRA), organisations create an Action Plan with specific milestones outlining the implementation of the agreed-upon core commitments. This Action Plan should be published within one year of the Agreement’s signing. To support this process, all signatories and organisations interested in signing ARRA and learning about the Action Plan procedure are invited to participate in an informative webinar organised by CoARA.
Released in July 2022, the Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment (ARRA) sets a common direction and principles for reforming the assessment of research, researchers and research organisations. Signatories of ARRA do not only advocate for change, but also commit to actively driving reform in research assessment and implementing the core commitments of ARRA within their organisations. To this end, signatories create Action Plans with specific milestones, outlining how they plan to review and advance their assessment criteria, tools, and processes. This should be done within the first year (1.5 years for early signatories) of signing ARRA.
In October 2023, signatories were provided with instructions on how to design their Action Plans, along with access to a Zenodo collection for sharing these plans amongst each other. To provide further support and continue the dialogue on good practices around them, we cordially invite signatories and prospective signatories to participate in the upcoming webinar. During the event, signatories are encouraged to bring their questions, raise discussion points, interact with (fellow) signatories and learn from their Action Plan journeys.

The upcoming webinar aims to support signatories in designing their initial Action Plans tailored to their institution’s missions and aligned with the ARRA commitments. We will be showcasing examples and reflections from early adopters to inspire you and share good practices. We will also provide time for you to ask questions and exchange experiences.
