Working Groups are central to CoARA’s mission to enable systemic reform of research assessment. Based on a bottom-up approach with members’ voluntary involvement, CoARA’s 13 Working Groups operate as ‘communities of practice’, providing mutual learning and collaboration on specific thematic areas. Participating members exchange knowledge, learn from each other’s experience, discuss and develop outputs to advance research assessment and support the implementation of members’ commitments.

As the first wave of Working Groups approaches its first anniversary, reflecting on and enhancing their connectivity is crucial for CoARA’s success. This involves fostering linkages and ensuring smooth knowledge exchange across the 13 Working Groups, as well as integrating their progress and outputs within the broader coalition and establishing an endorsement framework to support their initiatives.
CoARA’s WG Co-Chairs Forum
10-11 September, the co-chairs of the 13 WGs will gather in Helsinki (and for some online) along with CoARA’s Steering Board and Secretariat members. Participants will engage in a series of presentations and discussions focusing on the progress, challenges, and synergies among CoARA Working Groups. Topics include enhancing collaboration across thematic areas, aligning efforts with national research strategies, and setting framework for endorsing Working Groups’ outputs.
